The major exhibition for 2009 was displayed at the Old York Mill Gallery. Two floors of gallery space housed over 60 of Leon’s large studio works and smaller plein air paintings. One of the more memorable works of this show was the large studio painting Puppy’s Prayer. It featured an old Australian cottage home with a small dog peering out from under the gate, praying that someone will return his ball that has rolled out onto the path. We discover that his prayer will likely soon be answered for in the the corner of the painting a young girl approaches. We assume with her comes the return of his ball.
